Can't wait for today's event!
Just prior to the session I'll be leading for Under Armour @ Academy Sports, I'll be meeting with TriBoomer for an interview for his weekly podcast, Stay Tuned Report, which you can find on itunes or through his blogsite. He also twitters - tri news reported by a triathlete.

During the warm-up I'll touch a bit on the latest "to stretch or not to stretch" commentary - which has been deemed by some as a "very complex issue" from what i've read lately. I'm super inspired to shed some light on the subject since I consider it to be part of some pretty basic performance principles. Simply sticking to basic physiology and looking at the issue holistically -- which is to say with the understanding that there are so many elements that go into running performance that you MUST choreograph them together -- goes a long way in understanding your body. Too often people are so close and yet so far from getting the principles just right...and that's when it gets confusing...
For example, I recently read a thread in which someone who is an advocate for no pre-run stretching listed the following as one of the five things he does to avoid injury in running:
I've never pumped my arms that hard," during his 2:06 London Marathon - it goes to show - along with common sense - that you are using your WHOLE body to get from the start line to the finish line including your "upper body." It's the same way you use your lower body - using only those muscles which you need when you need them during your strides - for the most efficient use. Sometimes you have to work even harder to teach a body part to relax than to go hard, would you agree?
Choreography.
